Rose Garden

The Rose Garden at Central Park still has many gorgeous flowers.  It always amazes me that the volunteers manage to keep this beautiful place going for so many months of the year.

Autumn roses

These are some of the roses still blooming in Central Park's Rose Garden. Amazing, aren't they? I think of roses as a spring and summer flower, but if one knows what one is doing, they have a very long season. Hooray!

Rose

Central Park has a beautiful rose garden, and I visit as often as I can. The heat has been hard on them, but the roses are still gorgeous.

Stop and smell the roses

I don't often post people photos. For some reason I am not yet comfortable asking permission to take a snap. Although most people who know me would be even more surprised to see my own face on a blog - I am a bit camera shy myself. The two might be related...

Anyway, this is in the Rose Garden in Central Park. I stand 6 feet 3 inches (190.5cm) tall and this rose is taller than I am! My lovely wife took the photo for me.

Rose Garden

This is the Rose Garden in Central Park. We've had a lot of rain of late, and it's amazing how much work the Rose Garden people have done to keep it looking so good. They're all volunteers and it's clear they love their job.

Thank you!

'Yuan' - Garden

Sculpture in the rose garden. The inscription reads: Variation on the Chinese character YUAN - garden. Sculptor - Robert Blood.

It's nestled up by the hill in the back of the garden; a very shady, relaxing spot to be on a hot summer day. Roses all round, trees to cool; a tranquil spot in the heart of the city.

More than roses

The Central Park Rose Garden has more than just roses... at one end is a rock garden with flowers, a small rock pool and native plantings.

The people who volunteer to care for this bit of beauty are to be commended. As far as I know, the City doesn't do any of the upkeep - it's a private effort.

Central Park Rose Garden

Central Park has a wonderful rose garden. I wandered through it today and took some photographs. It's a little late for some varieties, but this one is at the peak of it's season.
