Gold Moss sedum

It's also called biting stonecrop, but I think Gold Moss sounds so much better!  This is the second bit of green to appear in the garden, after the snow drops and crocus.  It's hardy stuff - it handles codl, ice, sun and rain in any amount that comes.  It is quite invasive, so I have to keep an eye on where it heads.  Don't want it to choke out the day lilies!

Sedum after the storm

It's almost covered by the accumulated snow.

I never imagined that I'd be taking pictures of that sedum in January!

It's an early sun, just managing to break over the horizon in the east. The shadow at the bottom is cast by the snow banks at the street side; the shadow on the left by the house across the street. It's a very tiny bit of sun that reaches across but it's very photogenic.

Sedum in snow

Yet another view of the infamous sedum in the front. This time, taken from indoors in the afternoon. The shadow seemed so mournful all alone like that.

I left the snow under-exposed on purpose. I found that if I kept it 'white' the contrast was lost. I guess this is why people use Photoshop!

Snow on sedum

This is the front garden, with Sedum 'Herbstfreude' - Autumn Joy. There isn't much colour left out there now but this is a neat picture, reminiscent of the gentle hills surrounding the valley.
