We live near lots of these. I hadn't known they were rhizomes. I do notice that birds seem to like the puffy cattails - for edible seeds? For the nest-making down?
ReplyDeleteI have seen Red-winged blackbirds using the fluff in their nests. I can't imagine some bird letting the seeds go to waste, but I've not personally seen them eating.
DeleteThese are lovely plants. I didn't know the name in English. Thank you! :-)
