Mowhawk River

Someone wanted to go see the river (OK, it was me).  Thankfully, the ice is breaking up without jamming under the bridges.  These blocks of ice used to be on the top of the river, which is currently running high, but down  several feet from earlier.  The temperature was in the mid-40s F.  That's shorts weather if you're 8!

This was taken at Riverside Park, in the Stockade.

  1. That's a big block of ice! Sometimes our rivers get ice jams under bridges; it is a worry for the road crews when it happens. I'm glad your ice isn't jamming up this year!

The shorts are a hoot! I guess he's glad of it being warmer, even if it isn't summer yet!

  2. years ago boys never wore long trousers until they were teenagers.

  3. Yikes, the river looks pretty high. He seems blissfully unconcerned.

  4. This part of town gets inundated once every few years by ice jams under the bridges. Everyone is very glad to see it running freely!

Nothing bothers an 8 year old, does it? :-)
